About Walks of Faith
Welcome, I’m Mike Maxwell, the creator behind Walks of Faith. As a filmmaker, poet, and seeker of truth, I aim to blend stunning nature cinematography and contemplative reflections formed by the concepts found in the Christian mystic traditions.
Jesus himself said, “The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21), inviting us to awaken to a reality where God is not distant, but intimately present in every breath, every step, and every moment of awareness.
It is important to note, this approach does not dismiss the beauty of church traditions but sees them as signposts rather than destinations.
The goal is not simply to learn about God but to experience Him—to be transformed by divine love and presence. Rooted in Christian mysticism, Walks of Faith is a response to the call found in Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands."
Creation itself is a sacred text, a living scripture that speaks to those who walk attentively, listen deeply, and allow stillness to guide them into divine awareness. Walks of Faith is rooted in my desire to share the serenity of Northumberland’s landscapes while reflecting on God’s Word and His handiwork.
Faith is often found in the quiet places: the hush of the forest, the rhythm of the waves, the sacred hush of dawn. Mystics throughout history—Meister Eckhart, St. John of the Cross, Julian of Norwich, and many others—have taught that stillness is the gateway to God. Walks of Faith is an invitation into that stillness, into a faith that is not about striving, but about surrendering to the divine presence already within and around us.
